About Me
I am south Indian by heritage and grew up in Bombay, India (now Mumbai). I now reside in San Jose, California with my family and work in tech. I am passionate about tech, mathematics, music, movies and discovering the fundamental principles behind things.
Family & Background
I grew up in Bombay as a third generation South Indian. My grandfather originally migrated from Kerala to Bombay, after WWII, to avail of the jobs and accommodation being offered in Bombay for migrants. So I grew up speaking Tamil, Hindi and English, and I have some proficiency in Marathi, which is the regional language. After getting my Bachelor’s degree from Bombay University, I moved to a diametrically opposite place, in every sense, to Buffalo, NY to pursue a Master’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering. Work brought me to Silicon Valley where I met my wife. We have a beautiful daughter together.
Work
I have built software products in the domains of High Availability Clustering, Unstructured Data Analytics, File Storage Management & Optimization. I have held, both, technical and management roles throughout my career.
Music
I sang lead vocals and played rhythm guitar in my band in India. After I moved to the U.S. I learned to play the blues. I love almost all genres of music across different cultures and languages. I jam occasionally with friends. Click here for some covers.
